gpg4o 3.4 Released

Distributed since Dec. 19 2014 – gpg4o 3.4 is available now. As usual we did a lot of development below the surface. Security and useability are the key issues.

gpg4o 3.4 delivers even more security
Our longtime customers know: Quality and Security are capitalized at Giegerich & Partner. Therefore we reviewed the complete sources to make sure only to use Long Key-IDs whereever and whenever to make sure nobody shall be able to provide you with a faked key. The second part is yours – check all keys you use thoroughly. In order to prevent normal users from this work, admins are now enabled to do so by

Centralized OpenPGP Key Management for Administrators
With version 3.4 of gpg4o we improve central administration through Microsoft Policy Manager. Administrators are now enabled to centrally rollout the Auto Import Keyserver as well as the list of keyservers. With this, corporate governance rules and compliance regulations can be enforced on email encryption.

New Functions for corporate users.
gpg4o now support the “send from” field thus enabling your team assistant to send encrypted mail on your behalf. This is done via virtual account settings (see below)

Compatibility to other OpenPGP-Implementations
gpg4o 3.4 ist enabled to verify PGP/MIME signed mail (detached signatures). This is important for applications like GPGMail.

Enhanced user experience with email encryption
gpg4o 3.4 improves overview of keys to be used. Coloured marks help the user to have a rapid overview over available keys, ambigous keys or missing keys.

  • Use the “Send from” field for team accounts and role accounts within Microsoft Outlook. With this function you may send encrypted mails on behalf of your team, your boss or your role. gpg4o uses virtual accounts and is able to choose the right public key to send on behalf of the team, boss or role.
