Dreieich/Frankfurt am Main/Brakel, Germany, 7th February 2014 – On the occasion of the European Commission’s annual “Safer Internet Day” on 11th February, the IT solution provider Giegerich & Partner is getting involved in the campaign by working to provide school pupils with a safer experience when using the Internet. Hans-Joachim Giegerich, a security expert and the CEO of Giegerich & Partner, and Christian Schülke from schuelke.net will therefore be giving a presentation on prevention as part of a special campaign day to be held at the “Geschwister-Scholl-Schule” school in the town of Brakel in the German Land of North Rhine-Westphalia. The aim of the presentation is to improve the media literacy of the pupils at the school and their educators, parents and guardians.

A “Live Hacking” Demonstration and Protection against Cyber Bullying, Trojans & Co.
Alongside practical tips concerning protection against unwanted snoopers, cyber bullying, mobile Trojans, drive-by downloads, wireless Internet traps, phishing mails and the risks involved in social networks, the experts will also use a “live hacking” demonstration to show how easy it is for scammers to ‘break into’ almost any smartphone or PC if adequate safety precautions have not been taken.

A Special Offer for More Safety on Safer Internet Day
Users who place particular value on protecting their personal data can also achieve additional security for e-mails with the help of encryption. As a small incentive on the occasion of “Safer Internet Day”, Giegerich & Partner is offering its e-mail encryption software, gpg4o, at a special price of just €9.99 until 14th February.
